A Solace Sleep
Design Goal: This interior design project was to create a master bedroom that was tranquil, natural, and provided an instant sense of peace. It was to be inspired by Salt Spring Island in British Columbia, include unique patterns, natural wood accents, organic lines, and maintain a modern sleek look.
How We Achieved Our Design Goal: We treated the window wall with floor to ceiling ripplefold sheer drapery in 100% linen. This softened the natural light and instantly created an airier feel in the space. Secondly, we kept the palette in soft neutrals and used lots of whites and dove grey colours. We then layered these colours in various materials such as wool, cotton, linen, and velvet which then provided instant tactile beauty in the master bedroom. We also included some custom stunning artwork by Lindsay Nichols Photography of a modern abstract feather photograph that appears to be flowing in water or floating in air. This perfectly grasped our colour palette and tied in a nature element to our space. All of the accessories also mimic organic objects you might find on the beach. The 18 Karat nightstands and the corrugated paper light pendant help anchor the bright space. These items also reflect driftwoods and bark from nature. The organic lines can be seen throughout the room, but are most noticeable on the contour table lamps.
During our photoshoot, my photographer said this is exactly what she wants her master bedroom to feel like. I hope that others that enter this space also get to enjoy this sense of peace and possibly even get a solace sleep. – NFID
