There is so much to love about this modern and fresh laundry haven that NFID designed for a infill project in Calgary, AB. It can become easy to dismiss the laundry area in our homes as a purely functional and utilitarian space. We often we do not give it much design thought. The opposite stand point was taken in our design approach for this clients home. Our clients wanted a bright haven to do laundry in. So, we utilize every inch of this room to maximize it’s efficiency and ensured the quality of interior finishes & selections that were in the rest of the house flowed consistently into this space.
The washer and dryer units were stacked in order to maximize the counter and storage space. The space saving allows for the white cast iron Kohler Napa sink set off by the polished chrome Kohler Simplice faucet. The countertop is Cambria Newport 0124 quartz allowing enough space to do all of the folding. The backsplash showcases a 2”x8” rectangular format Ceramica Bianca Convessa CA 1501 tile from Icon Stone + Tile. Above this counter is a rod for hanging clothes and open storage area for bins. The Pratt & Lambert 33-1 Designer White shaker cabinets finished off with a crown moulding were designed by NFID and all finished on site. The floor to ceiling millwork design of them allows for a multitude of storage options including linen and towels, brooms and mops, and cleaning supplies. The floor lends a contrast to the rest of the brilliant fresh space and is covered in 12×24 porcelain Tierra Sol Casalgrande Terre Toscane Gaiole tile.
