This barn door project was the handy work of my extremely talented husband who is blessed with the gift of precision, accuracy, carpentry skills, and patience. I say patience mainly because he had to deal with me… woman designer who wanted a yellow barn door. Granted, I did pick up two old doors from Tim’s Reusables in Calgary, AB, crammed them into my SUV with 3 carseats… all for the mere amount of $60.00:-). We only had mahogany left over in the garage, so the old doors were wrapped in mahogany trim:-). Once you throw some beautiful pull hardware and track from Spalding Hardware (which glides smooth as butter), along with paying a perfectionist painter to spray the door in a high-gloss lacquer, the barn door easily jumped from $60 to around $1000 in product cost (not including my husband’s or my time).
Besides that, I do love my yellow barn door and I think everyone should have one in their home:-)!
A fun DIY project… even by us non-DIY people. Thank you hubby for your patience and time.
