YYC is a vibrant, dynamic city with flourishing creative individuals in various industry areas including retail, hospitality, marketing, and of course arts & design. NFID was asked to design a ‘Garage Grunge’ inspired showhome in Calgary, Alberta. The style is unique, youthful, & fun, and directed towards individuals who want a personalized feel in their home. This small-laned home had an open concept with the living area, dining area, and kitchen adjoining, so the finishes, colors, and furnishings had to be balanced & flow nicely throughout each area. Using bold velvet patterned fabrics, worn out leathers, concrete/brick wallcoverings & artwork, heavy iron finishes, and personalized vintage décor touches, we managed to achieve this garage grunge feel – quite nicely;-).
Even if ‘Garage Grunge’ isn’t your style, this space is SO enjoyable to be in with it’s theatrical presence & extremely memorable details. NFID enjoyed this fun design challenge.
