A Stylish Office Design by Kelowna Interior Designer

A Stylish Office Design by NFID

This office makeover involved turning a dark and gloomy space into a fresh, bright, and functional office.  Our design goal was to create a modern and stylish working space for our client on the days when she worked from home.  We finished the wall panelling, shelving, and ceiling in a beautiful warm white paint.  We also decided to leave the beams to be exposed dark woodgrain to match the french doors that lead to the front foyer of the home.

To begin with, we decided to bring in the coral and navy colour accents that are in the rest of the house into the office design with the use of a beautiful West Elm Rani Rug.

There is also a fiddle fig tree next to the desk that sits in a textured grey Crate & Barrel Slanted Tall Planter.  Adding greenery to the space automatically made the room feel inviting, bringing a feeling of the outdoors inside.

Lighting is a very important element of interior design.  We always consider task, accent, ambient, and natural lighting when we design a space.

In this office design, we added LED pot lights with painted trim to match our tongue and groove ceiling.  This acts as our general/ambient lighting in the office space.  We used a polished nickel Restoration Hardware Academy Task Table Lamp for our office task lighting and also diffused the natural sunlight into the space with Hunter Douglas Silhouette window coverings.  These window coverings were matched perfectly to our warm white paint colour.  The Hunter Douglas Silhouettes also ensured that harsh shadows and sunlight would be cast onto the desk space when our client was working.

In addition to good lighting, it is also important to have a well ergonomic desk chair in a workspace.  The Herman Miller Aeron chair is a classic ‘must have’ in any office space.   It provides proper back support, adjustable arms, and tilt limiter and seat angle adjustment.  I have had mine in my office for years and love it every day!

Another feature of this office design is the built-in bookshelves.  These  bookshelves are filled with beautiful white neutral accessories with a touch of gold accents.  Some accessories include marble and brass picture frames, pottery, crystal finials, and a lovely assortment of books.  All these stylish details contribute to this office design success, making the clients feel right at home with a perfect wall filled with memories of their loved ones and travels.
