Okanagan Patio Design – NFID Top 5  Favs

Natalie Fuglestveit Interior Design, is happy to share 5 patio design items that might help you advance your outdoor living areas.

#1 Area Rug: It is important to think pattern and interest when purchasing an outdoor area rug.  Usually indoor/outdoor area rugs are made up of a polypropylene or similar material.  They are easy to spray down and clean.  I usually take mine to a car wash for a good scrub once a year:-).  Dash & Albert is a great rug company that has many Indoor & Outdoor rug options.  This Diamond Black & Ivory Indoor Outdoor Area rug might be a great fit if you are in need of a new outdoor rug this summer!Dash & Albert Indoor Outdoor Area Rug#2 Outdoor Daybed:  If you already have outdoor furniture, but could still fill up a little more space on your patio to take naps & provide visual interest, perhaps consider Article’s Rattan Outdoor Daybed.  It is 75″w x 31.5″D and would nicely fit a couple if you are entertaining or anyone under 6′-2″ tall for napping!

#3 Outdoor Pillows:  I am all about designer fabrics & always am in awe by the beauty of various fibres, materials, durability, & patterns.  Schumacher is a ‘Go To’ for stylish patterned fabrics for me as a designer.  Living in the Okanagan, we are inspired by local fruit stands, orchards, vineyards, and water.  A great indoor/outdoor fabric made of 100% Polyester is Citrus Garden 177330.

NFID loves making up custom pillows to finish off our designs.  If you are interested in adding some accents to you patio, it would be our pleasure to help you out!  Give us a call.

#4 Fire Pit: Searching for a realistic wood burning fire pit in BC is a bit of a challenge.  The fire pit restrictions make things a bit of a challenged when sourcing in Canada.

In Kelowna, we love having fires during the months of November – April, however usually don’t have fires in the hotter dry summer months.  Many times this is due to fire-bans as well.  With these random restrictions the idea of having a free-standing fire pit that you can move or store away makes sense.  You can save that patio space instead for other entertaining & additional seating on those hot summer nights.  Yes, there is always the option of propane.. however some of us still love the crackle of wood burning fires.

This Steel Fire Pit chiminea is from 1st Dibs  I LOVE the architectural & sculptural design.
